Job Title: Professional Electrical Engineer
We are seeking a mid-to-senior level Professional Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic team of multi-disciplinary engineers. The role involves conducting field investigations and performing failure/accident analysis for electrical systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in electrical engineering concepts, field experience, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations to document as-built conditions and damage to electrical systems caused by natural events (wind, fire, water, etc.) or human-induced factors (design errors, construction defects).
- Analyze electrical equipment, including low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear, panelboards, transformers, data/communication systems, and fire alarm systems.
- Utilize building codes, technical knowledge, and construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations and perform cause-and-origin analyses.
- Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
- Support fire origin and cause investigations related to electrical causes of fires.
- Communicate with clients, code officials, and contractors to address construction issues and prepare detailed engineering reports.
- Manage multiple project assignments, ensuring timely execution and adherence to budget.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Be available for travel on short notice as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), preferably in multiple states or with the ability to obtain additional licensure.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in design or related fields.
- Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, NEC, NFPA).
- Field experience with electrical system investigations and estimating electrical equipment designs and installations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Litigation support experience, including expert testimony, depositions, mediation, and arbitration, is a plus.
- Existing client base and business development experience are highly desirable.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: £80K – £120K, commensurate with experience.
