About the Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing groundworks and residential development projects across the region, working closely with a small team of surveyors. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, this role will involve full responsibility for cost management, contract administration, tendering, and subcontractor management.

The company operates as both a Main Contractor and Groundworks Subcontractor, providing the successful candidate with exposure to a broad range of projects and sectors. This role is based primarily in the office, with regular site visits to ensure project delivery and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the quantity surveying duties across multiple residential and groundworks projects.
  • Prepare tender documentation, cost estimates, and valuations.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and contract negotiations.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering, ensuring projects remain on budget.
  • Monitor project progress and highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Report to the Commercial Director on project financials and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking experienced quantity surveyors with a background in groundworks, residential, or commercial projects. This role is ideal for candidates with a proven track record in managing large-scale construction projects and those looking to step into a senior role.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor or Groundworks company.
  • Strong understanding of cost management and contract administration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good tenure and stability in previous roles.
