About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead on optical network system implementation, testing, and integration.
• Build and manage optical testbeds and develop automated measurement systems for performance testing.
• Model and characterise electrical and optical components for end-to-end performance evaluations.
• Assess optical transmission and network performance for short-reach AI networked systems.
• Oversee lab facilities and manage relationships with external hardware suppliers.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams across PIC design, systems integration, and network planning.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with extensive hands-on experience in optical communication systems development and testing, from early-stage prototypes to full product development. The ideal candidate will be a strong technical leader with advanced knowledge of high-baud-rate optical communication systems, DSP, and RF and optical channel modelling.

Key Requirements:

• Proven industry experience in optical communication systems, particularly in high-baud-rate direct detect systems.
• Expertise in end-to-end system modelling, including RF and optical channels.
• Experience with DSP and system optimisation methods.
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and scripting.
• PhD in optical communications, physics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams.
